Broadway Rolls Out the Red Carpet for INTIX 2020

1/30/20
Last week, INTIX brought its annual conference to New York City for the first time in at least two decades, as hundreds of ticketing professionals gathered at the Hilton New York to make connections, gain key insight from peers, and learn about what's next in the industry.

Shubert was proud to be a prominent part of this event, capitalizing on the conference’s location to bring Broadway to the forefront of the ticketing conversation. In addition to playing a role on the host committee, Shubert helped make INTIX more accessible, with live Galapro captioning at every session, from every seat. Shubert also sponsored several panels at the convention.

At the opening keynote, “Uninvited: Insights from Broadway’s Jagged Little Pill,” Producer Arvind Ethan David spoke about making doors more open for diverse audiences on Broadway, followed by a performance of “Uninvited” by cast member Jane Bruce. And the Executive Leadership Townhall, co-sponsored with Entertainment Benefits Group, featured leaders from EBG, Ticketmaster, Ambassador Theatre Group, and the WNBA discussing lessons from their years in top positions within the industry.

Shubert also created a one-of-a-kind exhibit, entitled “The History of Broadway Ticketing,” with support from the Shubert Archive and Local 751 I.A.T.S.E. Through historical photos and artifacts, attendees were guided through 100+ years of ticketing on the Great White Way—and they could snap a photo in a retro box office window.

Finally, Shubert Ticketing’s own Vince Rieger received the Patricia G. Spira Lifetime Achievement Award. Vince has played a key role in major milestones for Shubert over the years, including the computerization of the Broadway ticket offices, establishing Telecharge in 1983, and acquiring Ticketron in 1991. He is also a longstanding supporter of INTIX who has worked diligently as a partner, sponsor and exhibitor, and as a conference leader.

INTIX 2020 was a huge success, and while the event moves to Anaheim in 2021, the impact of Broadway on this year’s conference will be felt for years to come.
